Sentinel 1, Copernicus Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Satellite, allows for the combination of multiple different polarisations to identify the structure of the surface. Calculating the ratio between the signals returning with the same polarisation (VV) and the ones returning with a changed polarisation (VH) indicates a volumetric scatterer (e.g. Forest or Fields) for higher values. This can also be used to monitor the growth of crops.
